Microneedling
Microneedling is a facial procedure which involves puncturing the skin with needles and pushing beneficial serums into the dermis of the skin to achieve fresh, even, hydrated and younger looking skin.
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses small, sterilized needles to prick the skin. This treatment aims to generate new collagen and skin tissue to smooth, firm, and tone skin. Microneedling is mostly used on the face and may reduce the appearance of acne, scars, dark spots, wrinkles, and large pores.
Using sterilised needles, we puncture the skin to kick start our bodies natural healing system. This stimulates collagen production which plumps up the skin and diminishes the appearance of mild scars, acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, uneven skin tone and enlarged pores.
In some cases we can treat alopecia (hair loss) and hyperhidrosis (extreme sweating).
During the treatment we use serums that are selected for your skin and are you want treated. This is because the serum can be pushed right through to the dermis, which has incredible results and benefits.
What happens during the treatment?
When you arrive we will take you through a full consultation and ask you to fill in some medical and consent forms.
If we are happy to proceed with the procedure you will be directed to the beauty bed where we will start the treatment.
First we will give your face a deep cleanse using a salacilic cleanser, this has anti-immflamitary properties which will help with the healing of your skin.
Afterwards we will apply the numbing cream, you will need to lay on the bed fro around 10-15 minutes to allow the cream to develop.
We will then clean of the cream and start the needling process, targeting the areas that you are most concerned about. This should take no longer than 15 minutes. During this process we will apply serums that have been selected for you so that you are getting the most out of your treatment.
Finally we will apply a cold cloth on your skin and gently massage SPF into your skin.
It is essential to protect your skin after the treatment so please make sure that you have a suitable SPF at home for your aftercare.
What is post treatment like?
Microneedling is a quick procedure, so you can go home once it’s done. Your skin might be red and swollen for up to five days. An ice pack can help reduce irritation and discomfort. Most people can wear makeup the day after the procedure, but you should stay out of the sun until your skin heals.
In the days and weeks after microneedling, you might notice that your skin burns or feels tight. Some people also have dry, flaking skin that improves with moisturiser. It is important that you do not pick your skin as this will interfere with the healing process.
Like with all skin related treatments it is important to stay hydrated.
How many treatments should I have?
Your skin can not be drastically improved in one session. We are rejuvenating and stimulating collagen production which takes time. If you want to see excellent results it is recommended that you have 4-6 sessions. This would need to be one session every 4-6weeks to give your skin chance to heal.
FAQ'S
Does it hurt?
In short, no! We apply numbing cream to the treated area so that you are as comfortable as possible. There may be areas that are a bit more sensitive but this should be a minimal to no pain treatment!
Is there any side effects?
Like any treatment, there are risks. Although it is rare, some people can have adverse reactions. It is common to have bleeding during the treatment and swelling and redness is more than likely after treatment. However if you experience, pro longed swelling (after 1 week), perisitant bleeding or blistering please seek medical attention and contact Olivia Tuck Beauty when appropriate to do so.
Who can't have microneedling?
Microneedling can cause bleeding so it may not be suitable for people with clotting or bleeding disorders, or who take medicine to thin their blood. You may want to avoid microneedling if you have conditions that affect your skin, such as eczema or diabetes, or if you have a weakened immune system.
Anyone who has cancer, heart disorders, epilepsy, facial implants, thrombosis, skin disease or recent surgery in treated area can not have treatment. Those who have had anti-wrinkle (botox) or fillers in treated area should wait 2 weeks before getting microneedling.
We will have a full consultation before treatment, so if we feel that you are not a suitable candidate we will not continue to do the treatment.
How much does it cost?
